Enum ColorGradientStopInterpolation
Defines the interpolation curve applied to the transition between a ColorGradientStop and its successor. When set to None, the gradient's global interpolation behavior is used.
Namespace: Scylla.Core.Util.Palette
Assembly: ScyllaCore.dll
Syntax
public enum ColorGradientStopInterpolation
Remarks
Per-stop interpolation overrides allow fine control over individual
transitions within a gradient. The easing is applied to the local
t parameter between two adjacent stops after midpoint remapping,
before the color space interpolation.
Curves follow the standard Penner easing taxonomy. In variants
start slow and accelerate; Out variants start fast and
decelerate; InOut variants are symmetric S-curves. Higher-order
polynomials (Quad < Cubic < Quart) and Expo produce
progressively stronger ease shapes.
Integer-value contract. Every member is pinned to an
explicit integer value. These values are part of Unity's binary asset
serialization for any ColorGradientAsset on disk, so renumbering
or re-ordering existing members will silently corrupt every saved
gradient. When extending this enum, always append new values at the
next free integer and never insert between or re-use existing slots.
A previous Phase-17 redesign re-shuffled the layout when removing the
deprecated Linear value (which was behaviourally identical to
None); the current layout has been pinned to lock the contract
going forward.
Fields
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| CubicIn | Cubic ease-in (t^3). Stronger acceleration than QuadIn. The default "ease" curve in many web and motion-graphics tools. |
| CubicInOut | Cubic ease-in-out. Symmetric S-curve with stronger acceleration than QuadInOut. |
| CubicOut | Cubic ease-out (1 - (1-t)^3). Stronger deceleration than QuadOut. |
| ExpoIn | Exponential ease-in (2^(10*(t-1))). The strongest meaningful ease-in.
Useful for HDR bloom curves, blackbody-style hot tails, and neon glow
falloff. |
| ExpoInOut | Exponential ease-in-out. Strongest symmetric S-curve in the standard
family. |
| ExpoOut | Exponential ease-out (1 - 2^(-10*t)). Mirror of ExpoIn.
|
| None | Straight-line blend with no easing applied to the local transition
parameter. The transition still happens in whatever color space the
gradient is set to (RGB, HSV, or Oklab); "no easing" only means no
curve is applied to |
| QuadIn | Quadratic ease-in (t^2). Starts slowly and accelerates. |
| QuadInOut | Quadratic ease-in-out. Mirrors QuadIn for the first half and QuadOut for the second. |
| QuadOut | Quadratic ease-out (1 - (1-t)^2). Starts quickly and decelerates. |
| QuartIn | Quartic ease-in (t^4). Used for heavy "long shadow" or "hot highlight" ramps where most of the transition concentrates near one end. |
| QuartInOut | Quartic ease-in-out. |
| QuartOut | Quartic ease-out (1 - (1-t)^4). Mirror of QuartIn. |
| SineIn | Sinusoidal ease-in (1 - cos(pi * t / 2)). Gentlest meaningful ease-in
in the standard family; reads as softer than QuadIn
without any acceleration spike. |
| SineInOut | Sinusoidal ease-in-out (0.5 * (1 - cos(pi * t))). Gentle S-curve that reads as softer than SmoothStep without the slight mid-segment acceleration of the cubic Hermite form. |
| SineOut | Sinusoidal ease-out (sin(pi * t / 2)). Mirror of SineIn.
|
| SmoothStep | Hermite S-curve easing (3t^2 - 2t^3). Smooth ease-in-out that starts and ends slowly with acceleration through the middle. |
| SmootherStep | Perlin's quintic easing (6t^5 - 15t^4 + 10t^3). Smoother than SmoothStep with C2 continuity. |
