Identifies which of the three sides of a downward triangle an edge belongs to in a TriEdgeCoord.

Remarks

In the canonical edge representation the anchor is always a downward triangle (A + B + C = 1). Each direction names the lane axis whose boundary the edge lies on, and implicitly identifies which upward neighbor shares that edge.

The three directions together cover all edges of any triangle. For a downward triangle at (a, b, c), the values map to upward neighbors as follows:

  • A: upward neighbor (a+1, b, c).
  • B: upward neighbor (a, b+1, c).
  • C: upward neighbor (a, b, c+1).

A

The edge that lies along the A lane axis boundary. The A-edge of downward triangle (a, b, c) is shared with upward triangle (a+1, b, c).
B

The edge that lies along the B lane axis boundary. The B-edge of downward triangle (a, b, c) is shared with upward triangle (a, b+1, c).
C

The edge that lies along the C lane axis boundary. The C-edge of downward triangle (a, b, c) is shared with upward triangle (a, b, c+1).
